Colored Pencil Portraiture
I've always been fascinated by human expression - the subtleties by which we communicate our inner most thoughts - the wonder in an infant's inquisitive stare, the disproval in a furrowed brow, joy in the gaze of a bride and groom or mystery in a contemplative eye. As a Portrait Artist, I strive to not only capture likeness, but to breath life into my work.
Nostalgia Series
In today's fast-paced world of technology and micromanagement, I often find myself longing for a simpler time - a time rich in community and pride. Inspired by old photographs, my Nostalgia Series showcases the warmth and charm of days gone by. Many are rendered in a colorizing technique which I've developed to add to the vintage flavor of each piece.

IN A NUTSHELL ...
Having been raised in the woods of Western Rhode Island, I developed an intimate bond with Mother Nature at a very early age. She was, and still remains, my greatest teacher.
Aside from a brief stint in Interior Design, I have had no formal art training. I was, however, fortunate enough to have been placed under the direction of a wonderful art teacher in high school. Mr. Paul DuHamel taught me one of the most valuable lessons I've learned as an artist - To see beyond my own reality, and then believe it. Thank you, Mr. D.
As a portrait artist, it is my goal to achieve realism - not only in a conventional sense, but to capture spirit and the very essence of expression; to seemingly give each portrait the power of thought.
I have found sources of inspiration in many places and forms over the years, one of the most profound being through the spirit of my beautiful granddaughter, Reagan. Her expressions of uninhibited joy fill my heart - and it is with a full and joyful heart that I wish to create.
